Don't miss out on the Smith Rock Detour!

Come on out to Smith Rock State Park September 17 - 19, 2010 for a fun filled weekend of bouldering, clinics, the Reel Rock Film Tour, and food!

This is always a great event and a perfect way to start the fall season!

Here's the schedule:

Saturday

8am-day of registration for competition begins

9am- clinics meet at registration tent and head into the park

10am- start kids comp.

3pm- clinics and kid's comp. done for the day

4pm- silent auction begins

4pm- slackline competition

5pm- dyno competition

6pm- dinner/beer garden open

7pm- AWOL Dance Collective show

8pm/dark- announce silent auction winners

8pm/dark- Reel Rock Film Tour

Stoneworks Results

InClimb had 10 climbers throwing down and crushing up at Stoneworks up in Beaverton, OR this past weekend.

A special shout-out, props, way to go, pat on the back goes to Tristan H. for coming in 2nd overall for the entire competition coming in ahead of climbers in older categories.

The team did real well overall and is now putting the finishing touches on their training for the upcoming SCS Regional Championships May 15th at the Bremerton, WA Vertical World.

ABS Nationals 2010

With our nations capital covered in a blanket of snow six climbers from the Inclimb Rock Gym Climbing Team braved the aftermath of the worst snow storm in DC history to compete at the USA Climbing ABS National Championships February 13 - 14, 2010.

The comp had great routes for the youth field. Lots of dynamic movement with interesting sequencing. Also, climbers were treated to some slab climbing- a rarity at comps.

We had four of our six climbers qualify for finals. In order to qualify climbers had to finish in the top ten within their category.

The addition of the Pyramide World Cup walls was great along with the lighting on the walls for both the youth and pro climbers.

Tristan (pictured above) managed to climb his way into a 11 way first place tie in qualifiers flashing all four problems.... Oh, did we mention he had food poisoning the night before and hadn't slept or eaten in hours... Tristan went on to a 3rd place finish in finals and a spot on the USA Climbing Team!

Each age category had the best 30 climbers from across the US climbing against each other. There were lots of very impressive climbers there and among them were the 6 wearing Inclimb shirts! As a team Inclimb finished a very impressive 17th out of 95 teams that were competing throughout the weekend.

Along with competing in the competition team members also enjoyed watching the pros duke it out in the open finals Friday night, taking in the sites of the Capital, and whittling away hours waiting for our hotel shuttle each day.

Weekend PacNW Nationals Training Camp

When we received the email notifying us that there was going to be a weekend training session for climbers in the PNW that were heading to ABS Nationals I knew we had to attend. The training camp was to be held at The Circuit over in Portland. The Circuit proved to be an ideal facility to host this event with plenty of large holds, steep terrain, and top-notch setting.

The weekend was great resource for both climbers and coaches alike. There was plenty of attention given to comp strategies, iso warm-ups, technique, and most of all the art of bearing down and getting mean on the wall.

A special shout out to The Circuit for hosting, The Surmas for opening up their house to the Inclimb Team, and Steven Jeffery for setting routes and working with the climbers.

About the raffle:

· Tickets may be purchased with cash at Inclimb

· The drawing will be held Friday February 5, 2010 at 6pm. Winners will be notified via phone call.

· The proceeds from the raffle will be used to offset the high cost of travel and registration for the climbers to compete in the 2010 ABS National Championships. All of the climbers had to qualify at the Regional Championships to receive an invitation to compete against other top climbers throughout the nation. Nationals is also where competitors will climb for a spot on the US Climbing Team and an invitation to the Bouldering World Cup.

Inclimb Team Finishes 2nd at Regional Championships, 6 Team Members Qualify for Nationals.

Inclimb's Climbing Team finished 2nd place in the team standings at this past weekends ABS Regional Championships at Edgeworks in Tacoma, Wa. Inclimb had 12 climbers competing with 130 climbers from 19 other teams throughout the North West. This is the best team finish that we've had and it was hard earned for sure. All the climbers should be proud of themselves and their team for a great ABS season!

Each climber had three boulder problems for their qualifying round with the top ten from each category advancing to the finals round. When the chalk dust settled after qualifiers Inclimb had 9 climbers advance to finals.

Below is a partial list of results as we are still waiting for some scores and final standings.

Please be sure to stay tuned for upcoming fundraisers to try and send all six Inclimb team members to ABS 11 Nationals at Sportrock in Virginia.

The Yeti's Lair, ABS Season 11, Nov. 21, 2009

This past weekend the InClimb Rock Gym’s Climbing Team headed south to Klamath Falls, OR for the first ABS sanctioned competition at The Yeti’s Lair. Going to a new gym is always exciting with new terrain, new features, and different route setters-The Yeti’s Lair did not disappoint. Team members enjoyed all the new holds and while the youth problems were a bit easy everyone was psyched on the route setting from the Intermediate to Open routes.

With 14 team members in attendance The Yeti’s Lair was awash in the blue shirts of the InClimb Team. After warming up and stretching the climbers went about dissecting the routes quickly leaving the youth climbs behind and venturing into intermediate, advanced, and some of our youth climbers even sending into the open category.

InClimb managed to take home first place in every age category that we had a climber in. River Helmich (14) in Male Youth B, and Olivia Brumwell (10) in Female Youth D pulled off a repeat of their performance at the Rogue Rock Gym two weeks ago by again laying claim to first over all male and female.

The team will be hard at work in the gym during the next three weeks preparing for the next competition on December 12^th at Clubsport in Tigard, OR. The Clubsport comp should prove to be the hardest comp for team members this year bringing strong climbers from throughout the Pacific North West.

InClimb had two climbers compete at this past weekends ABS competition up at Vertical World in Redmond. VW had a huge turnout for their comp with 158 competitors!
InClimb's Helmich brothers, River (Male Youth B) and Tristan (Male Youth C), both finished 1st in their respective age categories.

Medford Comp Results

InClimb had a strong showing at this weekend’s ABS competition at the Rouge Rock Gym in Medford, OR. We had 14 competitors climbing from InClimb and managed to take home 1^splace for both male and female overall. River Helmich (Male Youth B) climbed his way to 1^st place overall in the male division bringing in a high score and besting some very strong competitors in the junior as well as the open categories. The overall winner for the females was InClimbs Olivia Brumwell (Female Youth D). Olivia is in the youngest age category and managed to turn in the highest score of all female competitors.

As always it was great to see how well the team climbed during the comp- pushing themselves as individuals as well as encouraging each other as teammates. Everyone climbed real strong and all the hard work and training is showing.

The host gym did a great job with route setting- lots of new tasty holds, good use of volumes, and some great boulder problems.

Smith Rock Spring Break

Spring Break and nice weather allowed 7 climbers from the team to head out to our local crag- Smith Rock. Climbing outside is great training and really makes the climber focus on their footwork and technique.

We had great temps and everyone got some good climbing in. Hopefully we can get more members of the team outside in the future. Here's a list of the climbs we did.
